Jonathon
Power Holds His Own "Off the Record" show

Where else would you possibly find a Porn Star, Molson Indy Beauty Queen
an
Actor and the world’s #4 squash player all engaged in a round table
discussion regarding the world of sport? Only in Canada eh!

Well
on the eve of the Pace Credit Union Canadian Classic Jonathon Power somehow
managed to carve out a half hour of his time and appeared on TSN’s Off
The Record television show. Power was joined by Adult Film star/producer
Ron Jeremy, Miss Molson Indy Lynne Kushnirenko and Actor Cameron Hughes.

The show
is hosted by Michael Landsberg and has seen Power appear numerous times
in the past as his flamboyant personality and overall knowledge of
sport have made him a fan favorite. So much so that a past episode that
he appeared in was voted as one of the top five episodes of all time.
Needless to say for us squash fans Friday night’s supper hour was spent
glued to the tube eagerly anticipating fireworks between guests as differing
viewpoints and arguing amongst themselves is often the norm.

Power
didn’t disappoint.

This
particular episode touched on everything from deliberate attempt to injure,
religion, the Kobe Bryant trial and assaulting the media.

From
the onset it was apparent that Power and Porno man Jeremy saw things in
the same light. (I don’t know if that’s good or bad but one thing I do
know
is that it’s good to have an ally regardless of their chosen profession)
Beauty Queen played the role of the sensible one and Actor guy was the
whipping boy as his comments were constantly beaten up by Power and Jeremy.

The highlight
of this particular episode centered around the Kobe Bryant
situation. Landsberg leads the guests by asking "Is he a distraction?
Is
this good for the team? If you were his team mate would you support him?"
"Should he even be playing?" Power was adamant that Bryant’s
innocent until
proven guilty while Actor Hughes disagreed saying "Bryant needs to
take
responsibility for his actions and be a man." The two went toe to
toe and
it’s not my position to say who was right and who was wrong only that
it’s
meant to be good hearted debate despite sometimes dealing with serious
issues.

For Power
it was an opportunity to be back in the national spotlight as a
few squash clips were shown between segments and some publicity for squash
and the upcoming tournament was achieved. Tournament referee Mike Riley
be
forewarned. Power’s vocal attack appears to be in top form.
