		Irish Squash Open 2001 [Complete Draw] Peter Nicol dominant in Final against David Palmer Peter Nicol erased questions about his fitness and focus with a dominating performance here in Dublin over a determined rival, David Palmer from Australia. Game one began fairly evenly, with both players content to play long rallies and with Palmer pressing onto the attack. But Palmer got into trouble with his court movement, positioning himself too closely to Nicol and creating five strokes against himself in the first game. In contrast to the evenly contested game one, game two was all Nicol. Peter started the game in control and increased his control by moving Palmer all around the court. Nicol won his points in spurts, at one point going from 3-2 to 7-2 in a run and then from 8-3 to 12-3. In game three, Palmer fought back hard and had Nicol on the run for part of the third game but Nicol was too steady and provided virtually no openings for Palmer to get in. DOUBLE TROUBLE Before the finals, an "Ireland versus rest of world" doubles exhibition was stages. Irishmen Derek Ryan and Chris Collins played against Paul Price and Martin Heath. David Evans was supposed to play, but it was revealed that he had suffered an unspecified leg injury during his loss to Palmer in the semi final the day before.
