Basit Ashfaq Brings Back Some Glory for Pakistan, Chinappa wins Women's U19

Pakistan returned to prominence in Junior squash in a big way today in Abbeydale, UK., winning three of the eight titles being contested in the 2005 British Junior Open.

Of most immediate significance to Pakistan's squash future was Basit Ashfaq, who took the famed Drysdale Cup, the Boy's U19 trophy, for Pakistan. Ashfaq will now enter the senior ranks.

Egypt's squash juggernaut pulled down four titles and there were an additional five Egyptian finalists on court today.

While the heralded Indian junior, Joshna Chinappa, fulfilled her promise by collecting the Girls Under 19 title, and she is expected to show promise as she enters the WISPA circuit immediately.
