and Womens Draws]
New Zealander Carol Owens and Malaysian Ong Beng Hee came away with the spoils in the first joint men's and women's Macau Squash Open after straight games finals victories over England's Stephanie Brind and Stefan Casteleyn, from Belgium, respectively. Second seed Owens, who sailed through the event without losing a game, was too strong for Brind who recently jumped six places to a career-high world No. 4. World No. 3 Owens, formerly from Melbourne and now based in Auckland, swept to a 9-5 9-5 9-0 win to claim her first WISPA World Tour title since winning the World Open in Scotland a year ago. Ong Beng Hee, the 21-year-old world No9, defeated sixth seed Stefan Casteleyn 15-10 15-11 15-4 to win his first PSA Tour title since last December when he became the first home player to secure the Malaysian Open trophy. Whilst the Macau Open was the former world junior champion from Penang's tenth PSA Tour final appearance of his career, it was the sixth this year of Belgian Casteleyn, the one-time world No7 who has been struggling to reclaim his former form.
