July 24-30 2006: Malaysian Open

QUARTERFINAL: A VERY FAST PACE

July 29: Playing Nicol David in Malaysia was always going to be tough but I just was not sharp enough in this match to really challenge her. I needed to be playing at the top of my game to be able to deal with the incredible pace with which she plays. Unfortunately having only been back on court for a few weeks, I wasnt seeing the ball early enough to gain any control of the rallies. Can't be too dissapointed though as it just feels good to be competing again. So hopefully by the the British Open in six weeks time I should be ready to take on all the top girls!

ROUND ONE: A GOOD WIN

July 28 - I wasn't quite sure how I was going to play against Rebecca Chiu as ive only been back on court for a couple of weeks and not played a hard match, so I was so pleased with my performance. All the summer training seemed to help so hopefully I will get better with each match I play now. Ive got a really tough one against Nicol David today though so lets hope I have lots of energy for that one!!

PREPARATION: BACK INTO ACTION INTO KUALA LUMPUR

July 24 - I have been training hard off court for over 3 months, working on my strength and fitness and doing some rehab on my right knee and it is now time to start competing again.

I am in Kuala Lumpur this week for the Malaysian open. This is a gold event so all of the top players are her including Vanessa Atkinson the world no 1 and fresh from her Qatar airways challenge title a couple of weeks ago, Nicol David.

I arrived here on Sunday night and since then I have just been taking it easy, letting my body recover from the long journey with some stretching and light hitting. Hopefully by Thursday when I play my 1st round match I should be feeling normal again and ready to play a tough match.

I am seeded 7 in this event and I am drawn to meet a qualifier in the 1st round so I am concentrating on that one for now. (Draw)
