SIDDALL TAKES PLATE
One of England's bright prospects, 16 year old Lauren Siddal from the Pontefract Club in Yorkshire, managed to outlast 16 year Canadian Ruchika Kumar from Oakville Ontario in the five game final of the Plate event.

Both of the players showed class and will be around in two years for the next junior championships where they should be top contenders for the crown - together with Omneya Abdel Kawy who is still only 15. Siddall lost a squeaker of a first game 9-10 but evened up by winning the second. After Kumar won the third, she seemed to lose mobility as Siddall constantly went short with drops and boasts, getting good dividends in the front left corner, to win the final two games.

Siddall is another Malcolm Willstrop product (coach of Lee Beachill and James Willstrop) while Hong Kong -born Kumar is coached by Neil Sweeney and Jonathon Power's coach, Mike Way.
