WORLD CHAMPION DAVID LEADS MALAYSIA TO OPENING TEAM SUCCESS
Twenty four hours after becoming the first player in history to retain the women's world junior individual title, 17-year-old Nicol David led favourites Malaysia to a 3-0 win over 9th seeds Canada on the first day of pool matches in the Women's World Junior Team Squash Championship in her hometown Penang.

Defending champions Egypt suffered a blow on day one when one of their team members Nadine Bahgat was forced to withdraw due to illness. The WSF Panel ruled that Sara Badr could replace Bahgat in the squad, and the 14-year-old British Junior Open U-15 champion immediately went into action in the match against 11th seeds Switzerland, conceding just one point in beating Corinne Scarlato 9-0, 9-0, 9-1 in the third string rubber.

Egypt's No1 Omneya Abdel Kawy, runner-up to Nicol David in the individual final, struggled to beat opponent Manuela Zehnder in the top string having to fight back from 4-0 and 6-4 down in the fourth game before winning 9-3, 9-2, 7-9, 9-6 to lead the third seeds to a 3-0 victory.
