Men's "A" Update [complete draws & results] April 3 7:00AM - The three top seeds in the Men's A draw---Ryan O'Connell and Whitten Morris, Beau Buford and Geoff Kennedy and Tom Harrity and Imran Khan respectively-are all safely through to this morning's semifinals at the University Club. But fourth seeds Addison West and Mark Barber, who barly made it through their five-game round of 16 match Friday night against Nick Barquin and Michael Sabatine, fell in three games yesterday afternoon to the Philadelphia duo of Ted Bruenner and Baird McIlvain, who posted their second consecutive upset win after previously eliminating Peter Burke and Mac McAndrew. Bruenner and McIlvain haven't lost a game so far in their trio of pre-semi matches, though their upcoming opponents, Buford and Kennedy, looked very strong in their quarter-final blanking of Tim and Jack Wyant. Whoever wins these semifinals will then play the only men's final of the entire tournament not at Racquet & Tennis when they wind up the afternoon action at the University Club. That 5 o'clock
men's A final will be preceded by the three women's finals, beginning
at 2:00 with the 40's on which Joyce Davenport and Julie Harris will oppose
Sara Luther and Jen Edson. This will be followed by the A final between
Margaret Brehman and Kellen Heckscher and Wendy Nolan and Elizabeth Del
Duca, both of whom upset higher seeded opponents, and then the Open final
in which Alicia McConnell will try for her 10th consecutive National Doubles
title with her first-time partner Pochi Holdefer against the Belknap sisters,
Mary and Berkeley. Results,
