Ryding, Lincou, Boswell, Durbach Qualify for PNC Open

NICOL BACK IN ACTION IN FLORIDA

By Howard Harding, London - Scotland's world squash champion Peter Nicol returns to competitive action tonight (Wednesday) in the USA when he leads the top-flight field in the $50,000 PNC Investments Florida Open in Boca Raton.

The 27-year-old world No2 from Aberdeen withdrew from last month's British Open, fearing he had a stress fracture of his shin. Later diagnosis proved the ailment - which caused the first injury withdrawal from an event of his career - to be a less serious inflammation of his tendon. Nicol meets South African qualifier Rodney Durbach in the opening round - whilst his rival Jonathon Power, the Canadian world No2 who claimed the US Open title in Boston last week, faces another qualifier, Frenchman Thierry Lincou.
