NICOL RECLAIMS WORLD No1 RANKING
In
the new August Dunlop PSA Men’s World Rankings, announced today (1st August)
by the Professional Squash Association (PSA), England’s world champion
Peter Nicol has reclaimed the No1 position he surrendered to Canadian
arch rival Jonathon Power four months ago.

Only ten points in over 800 now separate
the pair who have shared the
top two places in the world list
since January 1999. Nicol first became
world No1 in February 1998, and was recently overtaken by Power in April
– less than two weeks after abandoning his Scottish nationality to become
English, based on his long-time residency in London. The 28-year-old overcame
a run of poor form immediately following his switch of allegiance to win
the Super Series Finals in London, becoming the first player to win this
prestigious event for three successive years. At the beginning of last
month (July), Nicol returned to his former homeland to clinch the Scottish
Open title to claim his sixth PSA Tour title over the past twelve months.

Australia’s Paul Price, who reached
the Scottish Open semi-finals, rises to a career-high world No4 in the
new list, just behind third-placed compatriot David Palmer, the Belgium-based
British Open champion. Another Australian Stewart Boswell, who celebrated
his 23rd birthday on Sunday, moves up to 15 following his success in reaching
the Scottish Open final unseeded.
