SquashTalk fills Void with new USA Mens Rankings

As the 2004-05 winter squash season gets underway in the USA, SquashTalk has announced introduction of new men's rankings for the USA's top men.

"The US men need a transparent ranking system which lets them measure themselves on an ongoing basis against other American players," said SquashTalk's Ron Beck in introducing the rankings.

"We feel that the lack of such a system has held down participation in the various good open-level events being held around the USA, and though we have been waiting patiently for the USSRA to introduce such a system, they haven't moved fast enough for the many readers that have been contacting us requesting a system."

"Because the American players are currently very low on the PSA totem pole, the PSA rankings are at present an especially inaccurate measure of the relative postiioning of the US players."

SquashTalk rankings will be issued on a frequent basis, usually after each major event, and this first ranking comes on the heels of the US Mens Selection RSG Beantown open.

The rankings will be unique in merging a ranking of players participating in open events as well as those playing in the CSA college leagues. SquashTalk will incorporate all events in the US, whether USSRA or PSA sanctioned or not, that Squashtalk deems to be valid tournament appearances.

"We welcome all events to submit results to us to be included in the ranking process, and we also welcome input and appeals relative to our rankings." Said Beck.

The rankings will be based on head to head results and CSA rankings as well as taking into account the point system being used in selection of the USA men's team.

Rankings will be limited to USA permanent residents and citizens.
