The USSRA has released its lastest USA Men's rankings and "Grand Prix" point standings for Oct 1, 2005. Preston Quick holds on to the USA #1 ranking position, and adds for the first time, #1 in the Grand Prix table, the point system used to select the National Team. This is the first time since the new ranking systems were introduced last fall that the same individual holds the #1 spot in both rankings.

Richard Chin from the Harvard Club in New York moves up on the basis of his finish in Lake Forest IL last week to #6 in the Grand Prix and #7 in the overall rankings.

Julian Illingworth, the winner at the March's US Nationals, stays at #3 in both rankings, having decided (with Gordon and Donegan) to compete in the Berkshire Open PSA event instead of the Lake Forest US Men's selection event.

Christoper Gordon, a regular on the PSA satellite tour, stays at the #4 ranking and #5 Grand Prix position.

After some ten months of this dual ranking system, the separate rankings and Grand Prix standings, both issued by the USSRA, continue to create a confusing situation, as they have led to divergent results amongst the top 10 players.

The overall number of elite players being ranking increased to 33 in the grand prix rankings and 37 in the US Men's USSRA open rankings. But bear in mind that in the grand prix rankings, all positions beyond ranking #13, are relatively meaningless, as all of those position simply represent point totals resulting solely from first round losses in the various selection events.

The USSRA rankings are issued by the USSRA rankings committee and include US citizens only.
