A busy month lies ahead for the sport's elite players - with this week's $140,000 Qatar Classic, the richest event of the year to date, followed by the $120,000 WSF World Men's Championship in Melbourne, preceding the World Team Championships.
Palmer, 25, is seeded to win both PSA events - the Super Series Platinum tournament which begins in Doha on Wednesday (3rd October) being the first event since the US Open in September 1997 in which Nicol and Power have been drawn in the same half. Welshman David Evans returns to No4 in the October PSA rankings, while SquashTalk "player of the month" Thierry Lincou - winner of the South African Challenge in September - rises to a career-high No5 to become the first Frenchman to achieve a world top five ranking. Cairo-based Omar Elborolossy returns to the top twenty at 18, ahead of world junior champion compatriot Kareem Darwish, to become the highest-ranked Egyptian for the first time. 1 [1] David Palmer AUS
