JONATHON POWER - World #1

The mercurial Power can present multiple game plans and mindsets to his opponent. At his best, Power's attacking game, fuelled by his short game and deceptive wrist, leaves his opponents guessing on virtually every shot. Power has taken his conditioning seriously in recent months and is in a position to be dominant when he is properly focused for an event. Look for Power to want to make up for his poor British Open performance at Broadgate. Power, who depends on pinpoint touch, has not in the past liked the court used for this event, or the cold outdoor conditions.

PETER NICOL - World #2

Peter Nicol's performance has been erratic this Spring, following his return from an October '01 injury. Nicol, who depends on consistency and conditioning, showed himself to be strangely vulnerable in his British Open loss to Lee Beachill last week. Can he match his great finals here last year?

DAVID EVANS

David Evans is making his second appearance at the Superseries Finals. Evans has played strong but not inspired squash over the past six months. Evans gets a lot of mileage out of his height and reach, together with the angles that he is able to shoot at from his height. The other competitors, however, appear to have largely solved his game and he will need to add some creativity to make it past the round robin.

SIMON PARKE

Simon Parke played brilliantly in the finals of this event last year. Since that point, his game has deserted him, leaving him with a largely unsatisfying series of results.

Parke, who very heavily depends on fitness, has not shown the required focus and consistency in the past six months. He may be able to regain some of the magic from last year's event for this match.

PAUL JOHNSON

Paul Johnson has snuck into this event, where most squash observers would have liked to see John White or Paul Price included. Johnson, who had a lackluster performance at the British Open last week and at the Superseries finals last year, will need to show he has the edge to make it past the round robin.

MARTIN HEATH

Martin Heath has not been able to muster top form following some strong performances in the USA at the end of 2000.

He therefore presents a totally unknown quantity at Broadgate - which Martin Heath will show up?

DAVID PALMER

David Palmer presents an imposing court presence, with his long reach and ability to clog the "T". Palmer is flying high after his important British Open win last week. However, the British Open win took place without him meeting either Nicol or Power, both of whom will be determined to re-establish their ability to beat him. Palmer has scored wins over most tour players, but has not solved Power's unpredicable game since his win over him in the 2000 British Open.

AHMED BARADA - withdrew

Barada was the most exciting player in the SuperSeries Final two year ago. This year,he will make a dramatic reentry to the squash world at Broadgate. He has been absent from the tour for the past five months. His return will bring a welcome attacking game, excitement and charisma, to a game that needs his personality.

The squash world is eagerly awaiting his appearance to find out if he has managed to regain his form through practice sessions in Cairo.
