TO MANCHESTER

Well we all arrived safe and sound in
Manchester.

Some opted for the supplied coach service
door to door, some decided to make their own way up via friends, some went
home for the day and others took the train.

It’s a daunting task for the players
to relocate mid-event but I can only imagine it’s a nightmare for the organisers
who have to set up an office again, organize a second press room and all the
services that need to be there for the players such as transport, water, practise
courts, physio, hotel and player passes to name a few.

The venue indeed lives up to expectation,
set right at the base of the Commonwealth Games Athletics Stadium itself,
the glass court has it’s own arena and the picture shows the exhibition area
at the side of the court being prepared for the rest of the tournament. This
is likely to be the home of the British Open for the forseeable future because
the Sport England Lottery Program has built it for Squash England as it’s
‘Centre of Excellence’ and central offices.

It seems to be starting off on the right
foot, now let’s see how the squash goes!
