Virtually
Unchanged Top 20 For September

Australia’s
Rachael Grinham retains her hold on the world No1 ranking, and there were
no other surprises as the world’s top 20 remained virtually the same,
according to the new September Women’s World Squash Rankings announced
today (2 September) by the Women’s International Squash Players’ Association
(WISPA).

Grinham, the
27-year-old from Toowoomba in Queensland succeeded England’s Cassie Jackman
as world No1 last month, and maintains her lead over the second-placed
31-year-old from Norfolk. The pair are seeded to meet for the fourth time
this year in the final of the Bahrain WISPA Classic later this month.

Vanessa Atkinson,
from the Netherlands, at No3, continued to keep the pressure on the two
women ahead of her and is in range of the top position with a few strong
finishes in the fall/winter campaign.

followed by
fourth-placed Natalie Grainger and Rachael’s younger sister Natalie Grinham
at five.

England’s Jenny
Tranfield makes a welcome return to the top ten for the first time this
year, while Hong Kong’s Rebecca Chiu is the only other riser in the top
20, moving up to a career-high-equalling 17th place.

Among Americas
players, Mexico’s Samantha Teran has climbed back up to #100 in her comeback
quest after an injury ridden 03-04 season.
