Virtually
Unchanged Top 20 For October

With a few players
switching positions within the top twenty, Australia’s Rachael Grinham
retains her hold on the world No1 ranking, and there were no other surprises
as the world’s top 20 remained virtually the same, according to the new
October Women’s World Squash Rankings announced today (2 September) by
the Women’s International Squash Players’ Association (WISPA).

Rachael Grinham
demonstrated her #1 status in the non-ranking WSF Womens World Team Championships,
as she defeated #2 Cassie Jackman during the final England/Australia contest.

Natalie Grinham,
Rachael’s younger sister, moved up, as expected from fifth to fourth,
jumping over inactive Natalie Grainger.

Grainger, the
South African native who plays under the American Flag, took several months
off tour to allow various injuries and fatigue related issues to work
themselves out. She returns to action in the upcoming Atlanta Masters
and Weymuller events this month.

Vanessa Atkinson,
from the Netherlands, at No3, continued to keep the pressure on the two
women ahead of her and is in range of the top position with more strong
finishes.

Among Americas
players, Latasha Khan slips to #23rd while top American junior Lily Lorenzen,
who is entered in a number of upcoming WISPA events, is currently sitting
at 94.
