[Re-drawn Seattle WISPA Draw]

CAMPION GETS MIXED BLESSING
A bizarre turn of events has last year's world champion, crowned in Seattle, Cassie Campion, meeting this year's world champion, Carol Owens, in the first round of the WISPA Seattle Open next week
.

The details surrounding Leilani Joyce's late withdrawal from the Seattle event are scant. Reporting a hand injury, or blister, Leilani Joyce has pulled out of the Seattle Open next week. According to WISPA procedures, instead of making a new draw, the other seeded players have been moved, with Sarah Fitz-Gerald now placed in the #1 seeding position.

Cassie Campion, who was slated to be the #1 seed in the qualifying pool, has consequently been promoted into the main draw, facing Carol Owens. Cassie's low ranking position is due to her several month absence from the tour following back surgery.

No further information on Leilani's condition is known at this time. The pure speculation is that she had taken advantage of the injury as a way to focus on the British Open. However, the recent results in Hurghada, at the Grand Prix Finals, suggest that Fitz-Gerald, who is playing every feasible event available, is benefitting from more match competition than her rivals who are appearing less frequently.
