CONVINCING
VICTORY
My quarter final match today with England's Linda Charman was surprisingly
more comfortable than I expected. The World No 3. started out well for
the first few points, but I was able to quickly gain control of the match
by playing good length and dominating the middle of the court.
I was pleased to have won so convincingly
9/3,9/0,9/1 in 26 minutes before tomorrows semi final against fellow Australian
Carol Owens.
GRAINGER
SHOWS HER FULL POTENTIAL
The first match to lead the quarter final session was World No 6.Natalie
Grainger and England's Stephanie Brind. Grainger, who struggled in her
previous rounds, showed her full potential tonight by out playing Brind
with pace and consistency to win in 27minutes 9/2,9/5,9/3.
OWENS CONTAINS
BAILEY
Rising talent Tania Bailey of England, who possibly has not
had enough experience playing on glass courts yet, never really found
her feet against Australia's Carol Owens. The 21 year old only managed
a disappointing 9/5,9/0,9/1 in 29 minutes. Her future is bright though,
as she still has plenty of time ahead of her on the circuit.
JOYCE CRUISES
The No1 seed Leilani Joyce of New Zealand also cruised easily
to a semi final berth in tomorrows World Open Championships, defeating
the 'ever consistent' 37 year old Suzanne Horner from Yorkshire in England
9/2,9/6,9/0.
